Together, Simetrica-Jacobs and Jacobs provide solutions for our clients that drives consideration of social value at every point in a project’s lifecycle, driving outcomes that benefit communities and people from concept, through design and delivery. As a Social Value Consultant, you will be joining a growing team of social value professionals who are responsible for supporting our clients to develop innovative approaches to social value and help role out our own social value strategy for our UK business
. You will also play a role in supporting roll-out of our social value capabilities and solutions for clients, including upskilling our teams and supporting work winning for the business. Jacobs has a large portfolio of long-term contracts working on some of the UK and Ireland’s most high-profile infrastructure projects and we want to grow our social value capabilities to meet this ever-increasing portfolio of projects. Our team delivers projects from concept stage through to construction and we are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable staff to join this highly successful team. The successful person will join a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects both locally and internationally. The role will include: Understand and Articulate: Understand local, regional, and national trends relating to social value issues and develop appropriate solutions for our teams, projects, and clients. Identification of key internal and external stakeholder, development, and management of these relationships to deliver social value/skills and employment priorities. This include forming partnerships with public and third sector stakeholders to maximise outcomes. Generate: Design, develop and manage social value aligned to local, industry and client needs. This includes engagement with key stakeholder, including communities and partners, and gaining client endorsement of the strategy. Work with clients to identify “leavers” for social value and providing guidance on how to use these to maximise outcomes. Help clients and teams through design, procurement, and contractual clauses to embed social value throughout the lifecycle of the project/programme. Measure: Support clients and projects in gaining buy-in for social value through evidencing of positive impacts. Develop and deliver ongoing monitoring, assurance, and evaluation of social value outcomes in line with industry/sector practice and understand return on investment.
Support delivery of specialist impact management and assessment activities, including SROI, EQIAs, and socio-economic impact assessments. Evidence & Improve: Carry out benchmarking of performance and capture and incorporate learning from industry and client best practice to support continual improvement in delivery. Develop social value handover and transition plans, and provide support through review, audit and verification of social value performance. Here’s what you’ll need: • An understanding of data analysis/local needs analysis and stakeholder engagement • Experience or evidenced understanding of carrying out specialist impact assessments, including Equality Impact Assessment, socio-economic assessments and Social Return on Investment. • Experience in the delivery of social value strategies and engagement plan for projects and programmes • Knowledgeable about social value including relevant legislation, Government policies across the UK, and new thinking/thought leadership around the social value agenda • Understanding of social value measurement principles and ideally experience in delivering, monitoring, and evaluating social value outcomes. • High level of communication and negotiation skills • Analytical and able to understand local and national trends • Excellent writing skills, including development of strategies, plans, reports and funding applications • Flexibility to travel to meet project demands •
