Classroom Assistants – Apprenticeships and Adult Learning

Do you have a passion for supporting learners with disabilities, learning difficulties, social and behavioural challenges?

You will need to be able to provide practical and skilled support to enable groups to be successful in learning. If you think you can make a difference to the achievement and inclusion in our learning programmes, we want to hear from you! Applications are invited for a part time, permanent opportunity within Hull City Council’s Hull Training and Adult Education team.

We are on a journey to look at new ways to grow and develop our delivery by being more creative, innovative and versatile in our approach to teaching and are already enhancing our delivery methods through blended, online and classroom learning. We have created new positions to support the teacher’s delivery with dedicated classroom assistants that will offer support for learning and development across our service areas. With these exciting changes, there has never been a better time to join us than right now!

Our organisation supports teaching and learning in both academic classroom and vocational workshop settings. The diverse opportunities on offer are driven by the wide range of courses we deliver across our study programmes, apprenticeships and adult learning courses in venues around the city.

What we would require from you:

• GCSE English and Maths with competent ICT skills
• Teaching Assistant Qualification at Level 2
• Motivation to support the academic, social and emotional development of learner groups
• Knowledge of functional skills and other EDI, H&S and safeguarding codes of practice
• Experience of assisting teachers with maintenance of assessment records
• Providing effective support to maximize attainment and accelerate progress
• Flexibility to support city wide learning and changing workload demands
• An understanding of how young people and adults learn
