CBD is embarking on a transformative journey to modernize its use of data and operationalize its data strategy and operating model. The data strategy is underpinned by design principles of revenue generation, increasing operational efficiency, and improving financial and regulatory controls. Effective and well-governed data will also aid in improving the outcomes of various analytics and AI use cases that the bank aims to implement.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager in Data Governance to drive critical elements of the data strategy. The Data Governance Senior Manager plays a critical role in developing and implementing data governance strategies and frameworks within the bank and is also responsible for overseeing the establishment of policies, processes, and controls to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of data assets, in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

Define and execute the data governance strategies aligned with the bank’s business objectives.

Develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.

Establish and lead the key data governance and management forums such as steering committees and working groups with cross-business/function participation.

Dive key decisions and oversee the rollout of pan-bank data governance to ensure the upliftment of data governance in the bank.

Ensure compliance with data governance regulatory requirements and endorse global data governance strategies.

Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with industry regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and financial data reporting standards.

Define data governance roles and responsibilities and establish mechanisms for accountability and oversight.

Collaborate with business units to identify and prioritize critical data assets and establish data ownership and stewardship responsibilities.

Oversee delivery of bank-wide data governance projects and services and guide best practices.

Collaborate with various stakeholders including business units, IT departments, and senior management to ensure alignment of and support of data governance initiatives.

Coordinate with the Data Management Senior Manager to maintain data dictionaries, data catalogues, and metadata repositories to support data governance activities.

Conduct Data Governance compliance assessment and work closely with compliance teams to develop and enforce access controls, and data management policies and respond to data management requests or breaches.

Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to data governance, including data quality metrics, compliance status, and issue resolution.

Provide guidance and support to business units on data governance matters, including data classification, access control, and data sharing agreements.

Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance best practices.

Contribute to the development of data governance tools and technologies to streamline processes.

Important: Run all aspects of a monthly Data Governance Forum where Data Quality, Data Modelling, Data Demand, Data Reporting, and Data Governance is discussed with C-Suite members.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

Master’s degree preferred or at least a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

5+ years of supervisory experience

10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.

5+ years of banking experience.

Led at least 1 large data transformation program end-to-end.

Strong leadership and project management skills, with a proven track record of driving successful data governance initiatives.

In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, or other data laws.

Experience with data quality management, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency in at least 1 data governance and quality tool.

Hands-on proficiency in at least one of these tools: Microsoft Azure Purview, Informatica IDQ, Informatica IICS, Collibra
