About the Role:

The Senior Manager of Airside Planning will oversee strategic long-term planning, including developing updates to the airport master plan and managing short-term planning projects, with a particular focus on airside and airfield facilities. The role will identify, evaluate, and report on long-term capacity-demand shortfalls while creating comprehensive capital development plans to address these issues. The role involves collaborating with senior and executive staff from airports, airlines, business partners, and government authorities to address short- and long-term needs related to new ideas and necessary facility renovation, improvement, and expansion plans. The Senior Manager will obtain endorsement from executive management and approval from the Board of Directors for airport master plans and related changes, as well as securing the necessary planning permissions from governing authorities. They will provide executive management with analysis and insights, developing airport master plans aimed at achieving strategic long-term business goals.

• Long-term (20-year) air traffic forecasting

• Asset utilization planning
• Master planning and land use planning
• Project definition for proposed capital development projects
• Stakeholder engagement for review and acceptance
• Compliance with GCAA and DMT’s regulatory requirements for Airport Master Plans

Required Skills:

• Deep understanding of complex airport and airline business and operational concepts
• Ability to analyse ambiguous data, integrate information, identify patterns, and translate these to clear messages to inform airport capital development strategy
• Ability to design and work towards a challenging, and potentially innovative, long term airport development plan, whilst acknowledging short-term pressures
• Ability to make informed decisions based on experience and analysis to deliver timely and effective results
• Ability to think long-term beyond own functional expertise
• Expert knowledge of airport planning practices and procedures, with strong background in Master Planning and other related planning studies for small/medium/large airports
• Expert knowledge of ICAO, IATA and FAA airport planning and design standards, circulars and recommended practices as well as other international and local regulatory standards to ensure project compliance with national laws
• Knowledge of airport planning, design and/or simulation applications
• Strong analytical, presentation and writing skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master of Science (MSc) in Airport Planning, Civil Engineering, or Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Airport Planning and Project Management experience

Required Experience:

• 10 to 12 years of experience at senior management level in leading Airport Planning teams and Project Definition projects for airport facility expansions, at both large and complex international airports as well as small regional airports, on both ‘green field’ developments as well as complex existing ‘brown field’ developments.
• Experience with leading multi-cultural (consultancy) teams and a deep understanding of professional cultural environment in the Middle East.
