This environmental charity is embarking on a major programme to replace legacy finance systems and enhance their financial management capabilities.

The charity is looking for an experienced Senior Delivery Manager, or IT Project Manager to support the technology delivery aspects of the Finance Systems Replacement Project.

This role is a major organisational priority with potentially challenging delivery timescales.

The organisation is seeking to recruit a candidate with substantial experience in managing large-scale digital transformation projects, such as the implementation of a finance system for a separate organisation. This project will run for up to 2 years and will require full-time commitment. The role demands specialist expertise and extensive experience in managing comparable projects. Given that this is a high-priority initiative affecting all of the charity’s finance systems, the skills and experience of the Delivery Manager are critical in mitigating key risks.

The Delivery Manager will oversee the technical delivery elements of a new finance system and focus to ensure seamless integration, minimised risks, and enhance the overall project efficiency. Their expertise will facilitate collaboration between technical and finance teams, as well as business stakeholders, ensuring effective communication, prompt issue resolution, and strict adherence to project timelines and budgets.

The Delivery Manager will spearhead the implementation of a new finance system, ensuring the project aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives and delivers a high-quality solution. This role involves overseeing all phases of the project, from initial planning and system selection through to deployment and post-implementation support.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of project management expertise, financial system knowledge, and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with significant experience in delivering and implementing complex projects and finance systems or financial software solutions. Proficiency in project management methodologies & typical project management tools. Project Management Qualifications (Prince2 Practitioner, PMP) Deep understanding of finance systems, accounting ERP systems, and financial processes. Experience of overseeing the system configuration, customisation, and integration activities to ensure the solution meets business requirements. Demonstrable leadership ability, able to lead without line management authority. An ability to persuade and influence a wide range of people, both internally and externally. Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities. Experience of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams. Exceptional stakeholder & supplier management capabilities – Proven ability to manage relationships effectively, ensuring clear communication, contract compliance, and the delivery of high-quality services in line with project requirements and timelines. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical & finance information to business stakeholders.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working in the Charity Sector. Developing and execute a comprehensive training plan to ensure end-users are effectively trained and prepared for the new system. Experience of working in a matrix environment Demonstrable experience of developing and working in partnerships to achieve shared outcomes. Business process mapping Data migration Cost and budget management
