The role
This role is for a part-time Project Manager to support the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship Project “Plants, Enslavement, and Public History: Re-imagining gardens and green spaces as places of heritage and healing” (2024-2028). You will support the Principal Investigator, Dr Jessica Moody in running and delivering this fellowship and will be part of a team which will also include two Senior Research Associates. You will act as a key point of contact and facilitate communications between the project team and external partners in the heritage sector in the UK, the Caribbean, Africa and the USA
Working in partnership with INTO (the International National Trusts Organisation) and its RISE (Re-Imagining Sites of Enslavement) programme connecting sites around the Atlantic, and the National Trust for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the fellowship will explore historical connections between plants, people and histories of enslavement, analyse the public memory of plants and enslavement at heritage sites around the Atlantic, work towards an ethical praxis of care by developing appropriate methods of research and practice, revealing the commemorative potential of plants and green heritage spaces.
This is a 0.5 FTE position available until 30 September 2028 with flexible working arrangements either on campus or home-working, or a mixture of both. Some travel and in-person meetings will be required on campus and at partner sites. Attendance is required at one international conference (United States
What will you be doing?
• Provide effective management of financial, administrative and contractual issues in relation to the fellowship
• Co-ordinate close communication with external partners in the heritage sector (both in the UK and internationally), arrange steering group meetings and support administration of new interpretation at heritage sites
• Support the organisation and running of events such as workshops and conferences (including one joint conference with INTO), and public engagement activities
• Provide support to the PI in relation to administration of ethics, GDPR and data management processes and protocols
• Maintain and support the project website, social media management and advertising of events as well as other public communication such as a podcast series
You should apply if
• You have a Project Management qualification or equivalent experience in Project Management and events organisation
• You have excellent administrative and IT skills, attention to detail, and time-keeping skills
• You can manage your workload and work to deadlines
• You can work effectively as part of a small team
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with internal contacts within the University and external stakeholders in the heritage sector
