The School of Trades & Apprenticeship is currently seeking qualified professionals to teach courses part-time starting in September in the Mechanical Techniques Plumbing or Plumbing Apprenticeship program. We are currently seeking individuals who can teach during the day and have expertise in subject areas such as: Piping Systems, Plumbing Theory & Practice, Prints & Math. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. and occasionally into the evening.
Shop classes are entirely in person, whereas theory classes may be a combination of both in-person and online. You would be joining a program team that will provide you with orientation, course material, and support. As well, Conestoga has the largest Teaching & Learning department in the province which delivers workshops and supports faculty’s professional development. Responsibilities • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including in shop, online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required • Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system • Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles • Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty Qualifications • Plumber 306A Certificate of Qualification is required • Additional Plumber Certificate of Apprenticeship is preferred • Minimum of five years of related industry experience • Gas licenses – G3, G2, or G1 are considered an asset •
Previous adult or post-secondary teaching experience is considered an asset • Experience with curriculum development is an asset • Knowledge and experience in computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L, Zoom) is an asset • Strong leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success • Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills Apply Now Apply to this requisition | Print this requisition Conestoga College is a leader in polytechnic education.
