POSITION:

ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE

IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. is a manufacturer of quality commercial and residential roofing products and part of the IKO Group of Companies. We presently have a full-time opportunity for an Electrical Apprentice to join our team based in Brampton, Ontario.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Electrical Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

Attend a Skilled Trades Ontario approved Industrial Electrician 442A apprenticeship program. Attend safety training courses and crew meetings. Housekeeping E.g., Keep electrical shop, electrical rooms and maintenance computer desk clean and clean up after all jobs. Install, examine, replace/repair electrical wiring, receptacles, conduits, lighting fixtures, and other components such as switches, relays, circuit breakers and fuse disconnects. Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain electrical and electronic control systems such as sensors, AC/DC drives, AC/DC motors, HMIs and PLCs Testing and calibration of instruments such as level sensors, thermocouples/RTDs etc. Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications. Conduct preventive maintenance programs. Work closely with operations and maintenance personnel Comply with internal and corporate policies, procedures and regulations with respect to Health and Safety Operate a lift truck where required. Other duties assigned by the supervisor.

General Requirements:

• Registered in a Skilled Trades Ontario approved apprenticeship program.
• Meets all Government requirements to be eligible for the Electrician program.
• Must have full set of metric standard tools.
• Must be able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends.
• Must have interpersonal, problem solving & trouble shooting skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
• Must be able to walk and/or stand 70-90% of the shift
• Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
