Centre 454 Specifically
Centre 454 is located at 454 King Edward Ave. Close to downtown, we are a safe space for people looking for community and connection. Our main population are people who are precariously housed or within the shelter system, living with substance use dependency, mental health challenges, and complex healthcare needs. We provide laundry, showers, hygiene supplies, telephone access, Wifi access, community navigation support, and so much more!
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Belong Ottawa. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the facility after it has closed to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for our clients.
Responsibilities:
• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming all areas of the facility, including common areas, restrooms, and offices.
• Empty and sanitize trash receptacles regularly.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and fixtures to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs or repairing minor damages.
• Follow established safety protocols and procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with staff members to address any cleaning or maintenance-related issues promptly.
• Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards clients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial services is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding and empathy towards individuals facing challenges related to substance use and mental health.
• Willingness to adhere to Belong Ottawa’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality and safety guidelines.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work the specified hours from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM daily.
