As a result of continued growth, PermaCorp has an opportunity for an experienced Controller to join our Senior Leadership team.
Profile
Reporting to the President and CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, planning, and assisting in the implementation of a new ERP and financial systems. The successful candidate will manage the accounting and administrative team and be responsible for regular reporting on operational metrics, maintaining internal controls, implementing process improvements, banking, cash management, and liaising with the parent company. This role will require someone who can implement new systems, processes and structures to meet the evolving needs of the organization. There will also be opportunities to work on special projects.
The ideal candidate will have an accounting designation and at least 5 years of post-designation experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, cost accounting, strong computer skills, the ability to work with high volumes of data, and to summarize and interpret information to enable sound business decision making. Ability to maintain professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to work in a team environment are also key to being successful in the role.
Duties
• Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
• Preparation of Monthly, Quarterly and Annual consolidated financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Bank reporting and covenant tracking.
• Overseeing Payroll, Banking, Credit Card management and Capital Asset tracking.
• Preparation of fiscal budgets and cash flow forecasting.
• Assist in the implementation of an ERP system and financial reporting system.
• Process improvements within the finance and admin team.
• Manage key financial processes and internal controls, inventory tracking, and other initiatives.
• Manage the finance and administration team in multiple locations with a hands-on approach.
Required Skills/Experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Accounting designation with a minimum of 5 years of post-designation experience
• At least 2 years working in the accounting department of a manufacturing company with hands on experience working with payroll, accounting systems, cost accounting, inventory management
• Experience with project accounting and consolidations is considered an asset
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills and demonstrated initiative in improving systems and tools
• Experience implementing an ERP system and other technology improvements
• Strong computer skills, data modelling, Microsoft Excel, ability to summarize large volume of data
• Reliable, organized, able to focus attention on details and summarize complexity
• Ability to multi-task in a fun and fast-paced environment
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
• Post-designation Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
• Costing: 5 years (preferred)
• Manufacturing Accounting: 2 years (preferred)
• CPA Certification (required)
Schedule
The Controller position is a salaried, management role, therefore exempt from overtime. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday between 7:30AM to 4:30PM. This role is based primarily from the Head Office location in Edmonton.
