Statement of Purpose: This position is responsible for the analyses, development, enhancement, and sustainability of necessary and innovative community collaborations/partnerships and sponsorships throughout the CAN Community Health region of service. This position will assist in analysis, execution, and implementation for community engagement programs or functions with a particular focus on mezzo and micro relationship building for each area of CAN service within CAN’s West Florida Region individual works across a variety of areas and strategies to ensure that CAN maintains a respected and effective strategic position and profile in the field in a way that fully reflects CAN’s vision, mission, and values. Their role is predominantly focused on networking and relationship execution.

Please note, this is a hybrid position with preference of residence in Tampa Bay Region of CAN’s area of service with moderate to significant travel required in region of service.

Community Development and Networking (50%):

1. Works in partnership with the key local leaders to advance CAN’s external engagement strategies that support long-term strategic direction and shorter-term business objectives to shape engagement, enhance the CAN brand nationally, and increase referrals to-from CAN including business return on investment (ROI).

a.) Acts as main individual responsible for achieving local community SMART goals.

2. Manages, establishes, and promotes key strategic relationships and partnerships throughout the CAN network, including but not limited to:

a.) Assistance of comprehensive community relations/business development gap analyses of all CAN service areas in the calendar year, including strategic community engagement goals for the next 1 to 3 years, in leadership of the Director of Community Relations.

b.) Identify, execute, and review long-term partnership and collaboration opportunities via memorandums of understanding (MOU), formal and informal relationships with organizations including but not limited to priority population institutions (Hispanic, Native American, African American); social service agencies; universities; homeless shelters; public and private healthcare entities; fellow AIDS service organizations; substance use agencies, LGBTQ-serving organizations, health departments, sexual health organizations, private funders, etc. in each region of service.

c.) Transition, review, and maintain all key community partner information into the Sharepoint repository system, in collaboration with local leaders.

3. Attends local networking and tabling events on behalf of CAN to market the organization, network with potential community partners, and drive business development.

4. Stays abreast of health policy and advocacy issues and priorities for Ryan White and CDC-funded organizations, and coordinates advocacy efforts with local, regional, and national consortia for relative issues.

5. Provides coaching and capacity building to local leaders, as well as evaluation, on engagement with local consortia’s and coalitions.

6. Acts as a liaison between the Director of Community Relations and local leaders (practice administrators, prevention managers, medical providers) on regionally based community-development needs, including:

a. Providing assignment, training, and guidance on initial gap analyses including key takeaways for that specific region.

b. Facilitating best-practice community engagement trainings and rollouts including population-specific strategies in-person and virtually.

c. Identifying community engagement champions, internally and externally (ex. Peers).

7. Implements new community engagement strategies, including at least one per year, as approved by the CEO and VP of Community Engagement to roll-out in the network, as in line with the Ending the Epidemic initiative.

8. Implements key programmatic, clinical, and financial metrics for specific partnerships and collaboration.

9. Prioritizes specific service areas community-development efforts, as deemed necessary by business, epidemiological, and grant-funding needs.

Program Development (25%):

1. Works in collaboration with local leaders in assigned areas of service to identify potential challenges and opportunities, and work to develop consensus approaches toward improving the overall healthcare delivery system through Community Engagement special programs (examples: faith-based, indigenous led, etc.).

2. Provides leadership and strategizing on various programmatic and clinical needs, including defining goals, objectives, and logical frameworks, as prioritized by the CAN strategic plan.

3. Engages in grant writing and/or pursuit in collaboration with community engagement needs.

4. Coaches and capacity build local leaders on program implementation for specific operational needs (ex. developing policy and procedures), for special community programs.

5. Identifies key programmatic and/or clinical initiatives that would put CAN on the forefront of its efforts and works with associated locations.

6. Develops and maintains a networking database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of networking interactions.

7. Provides biannual market analysis reports to the Directors of Marketing and Community Relations including but not limited to, metrics on networking interactions, current EHE campaigns, community needs, and market comparison, etc.

Marketing/Donor Development (25%)

1. Strengthens CAN’s philanthropy through leadership and increases CAN’s visibility/impact in a range of relevant donor communities in current service areas including identifying and sustaining sponsorship opportunities.

2. Assist with supporting the marketing department to enhance CAN’s brand recognition and visibility within their service area.

3. Provides on the ground insight to the marketing team that shares highlights of community partnerships, success stories, and the impact of CAN’s work.

4. Identifies and cultivates relationships with potential donors and sponsors, ensuring alignment with CAN’s mission and values.

5. Supports CAN micro fundraising events within their region to support local community engagement and donor engagement efforts.

Requirements

Education/Professional:

1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

2. Minimum of 4 years related professional experience in community engagement and relationship/business development required. 5 – 7 years preferred.

3. Background in public health, community planning and/or coalition building/advocacy preferred.

4. Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment:

• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, audio visual, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requiremnts:

1. Neat, professional appearance.

2. Sedentary- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly in lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

3. Requires expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, visual and auditory acuity.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This position may require additional time above normal operating hours and on occasion weekend work.

Travel:

Moderate to significant travel required, approximately 2-3 weeks per month. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
