THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep needs a dynamic Business Partner with a diverse set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep Business Partner, you will achieve jaw-dropping results with principals, create pathways to opportunity for our staff, build transformative relationships with campus and home office leaders, and eliminate educational inequities to advance social justice across the district.
To put it simply, when you join the YES Prep Talent team, you serve as a strategic advisor to a principal and principal supervisor on their talent needs. The Business Partner is a one-stop shop for a principal, increasing their capacity to drive campus results and increase student achievement.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:
Ensures that 98% of campus staff for your caseload will be hired and approved to start by the first day of their duty schedule
• Supports Principals in staffing decisions including determining staffing models, workforce alignment, projecting vacancies, addressing over hire and internal transfer actions, and facilitating role eliminations
• Understands unique needs of campuses and creates job descriptions aligned to those needs
• Works with recruiters to identify applicants for open positions that meet the unique needs of the campus
• Aggressively monitoring applicant pools for each vacancy and ensuring that there are at least three quality candidates for every vacancy
• Works with recruiters to screen candidates and queue to Principals within one week of a candidate’s application
• Coaches Principals on effective hiring and selection strategies to secure top talent
• Ensures that final interviews are conducted within one week of a candidate being sent to a school, and a decision is communicated to a candidate within one week of their interview
• Works with HRIS to ensure that new hires have met all requirements and are approved to start by their projected first day
• Develops clear systems and procedures for tracking data, assessing progress toward goals, and making changes in the moment to ensure all goals are met
Ensures that 90% of your Principals agree or strongly agree that you understand the unique needs of their schools, help them analyze and use talent data to make important staff decisions, and assist them in staffing practices that will support campus success
• Serve as the key point of contact for a caseload of Principals, providing proactive guidance and support on their talent issues
• Provides guidance and expertise across a wide-array of talent issues including employee relations, performance management, benefits, ADA, hiring, and onboarding
• Responds to Principal inquiries within 24 hours of receipt
• Develops and executes Talent development sessions for key stakeholders on various Talent topics
• Establishes and maintains a strong, positive working relationship with school Principals, Principal supervisors, and other stakeholders to support the sourcing, assignment, induction, retention, development, and performance of high-quality candidates for all school-based positions
• Reviews and understands school student achievement data to ensure human capital needs are met to continually improve student outcomes
• Conducts deep data dives with Principals and Heads of Schools on talent and staffing needs and recommends solutions to address concerns
• Collaborates and leads investigations for various employee relations situations
• Represents YES Prep campus leaders for unemployment hearings, external events, and various other needs applicable to talent management
• Stays abreast of latest employment laws by attending seminars, trainings, reading publications, and participating in professional development
Increases the effectiveness of teachers in schools by ensuring:
• There are at least three quality candidates for every vacancy;
• 85% retention of teachers with 90% retention of Level III and IV teachers
• 100% of growth plans are started prior to established deadlines for issues arising prior to that date
• 100% of teachers on growth plans either improve to effective ratings or are exited from the system by end of year
• Principals are supported in navigating short and long-term coverage challenges
• 95% of teachers hired persist beyond 90 days on staff
• High needs campuses receive differentiated support
• Additional duties as assigned.
Effectively manages a Talent pipeline and Talent hiring events
• Effectively leads a team to recruit and hire teachers for an assigned Talent pipeline to fill hard-to-fill or high compliancy vacancies across the district
• Plans for onboarding of centralized hires to create a signature onboarding experience
• Ensures that 100% of centralized pipeline hires are placed on campuses, have met all onboarding requirements and are approved to start by first day of duty schedule
• Effectively communicates with YES Prep leadership, centralized hires, and/or district partners to ensure pipeline stakeholders are informed during the hiring and onboarding process
• Plans and manages hiring events for individual campuses as well as district wide to ensure campuses meet hiring goals
• Develops clear systems and procedures for tracking data, assessing progress toward goals, and making changes in the moment to ensure all goals are met

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
• 2+ years of experience at the HR Manager/Generalist/Specialist/Business Partner level, OR 2+ years of experience in school leadership with a deep interest in and foundational knowledge in human resource functions
• Minimum of one year of management experience

• Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
