Your Role: The Accounts Payable, Disbursement Manager is a position responsible for several functions within the Accounting Department. This includes:
• Managing Accounts Payable
• Managing Claims Disbursements
• 1099 Process and IRS Reporting
• Accounts Reconciliation
• Compliance with MAR regulations

In addition to these core responsibilities, The Accounts Payable, Disbursement Manager is involved in verifying, posting, computing and summarizing payments and accounting records. Responsible for reporting as well as analyzing and resolving any problems that may arise.

The position is responsible for developing and leading a team of accounting professionals, including managing, hiring, performance appraisals, coaching and developing.

Your work:

• Manage and oversee day to day disbursements for AP and Claims 1099 teams approximately $1B annually.
• Ownership of regulatory functions such as IRS 1099 Reporting, OFAC and EDD Compliance.
• Develop and manage the quality and production, ensuring efficient and effective processes.
• Manage daily workload and assignments, determine priority to ensure efficient workflow.
• Help address and resolve escalated inquiries and issues promptly.
• Analyze the data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements.
• Collaborate with GL team to support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Respond and provide evidence for internal and external audits, develop, and implement controls to mitigate operational and reputational risks, including fraud controls.
• Develop and maintain KPI’s and operational policies and procedures.
• Develop and manage service level agreements, ensuring schedules and deadlines are met.
• Participates in the development of long-term strategic plans, develops tactical plans for Accounting Services and the forecasting of staffing needs.
• Provides the overall direction and planning for Accounting Services projects, including development of new systems, enhancements and products.
• Coach, develop, manage, train and mentor staff in the functional areas, conduct goals developments and performance evaluations.
• Understand multiple system capabilities, functionalities and reporting that impacts AP and Claims Disbursement Operations. Conduct gap analysis on missing, needed functionalities, recommends systems enhancements.

Required Experience, Education and Skills

• 7 years of in-depth AP experience
• 5 years of supervisory / managerial experience
• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with typically 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Strong knowledge of insurance industry payment channels and methods including AP, 1099 Reporting, and claims disbursements
• Advanced knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems and related accounting and regulatory compliance requirements
• Ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and at all levels.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships at all levels within the organization
• Excellent Leadership and management skills, sound judgment and strong decision making, critical thinking and creative problem solving
• Ability to understand company goals/initiatives, business needs and regulatory business environment to translate them into actionable items.

The national average salary range for this position is $135,180 – $150,200. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $110,520 – $164,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 15% of eligible pay.
